I’ve just been looking it over, and every time I come back to the topics page I just find the color scheme…painful. Am I the only one experiencing this?
Ooooooookay, when I posted this thread, it never returned me to the thread or the topic list. That’s a bug. Is there gonna be a bug thread where we can log these?
Like everything new, it takes time to get used to BUT I think the RED in the “Topic” list is just too much RED. Thanks for asking.
I might just need some time to get use to it. But it does throw me off a little.[tdn]
Spank,
When I first saw it, I didn’t like it either. But, it is growing on me now.
UGH Why on Earth do WebDevelopers NOT allow thei sites to use the entire width of a screen?! I bet this site looks great at 600x800 res, but it is aweful at 1920x1080
Just a little getting used to, otherwise I like your Banner, color arrangement and overall layout.

I find the red colored font very difficult to read. I hope CTT will do a little tuning, and switch to a color that is easier on the eyes.
I agree the red jumps out at you, hard to read. But what can WE do. Nothing.
I dislike the lack of contrast. The greater the contrast the easier it is to read things off a computer screen, or so I find. But then I am nearsighted.
Yep, I’m in complete agreement with you. That was one of my complaints with the prior re-design.
Try hitting RSS. Different screen.
Yes, worse![xx(]
When I first sign on and it goes to full screen on my wide screen monitor and then drops to this “dinky” size.
The red text is Aweful. When I am looking at the Topics, all the text just seems to bleed together and I have to force my eyes to focus and slowly read from line to line.
And why can’t I just type a smiley shortcut
:0 and have the smiley appear!!?? You should not have to mess around with brackets. A very simple feature neglected.
We can post pics direct to “Readers Photos” and to our Avatar, but not in any other thread? 1TB of storage space can house 2,000,000 500k pics and since we can post to “Readers Photos” copyright should not be an issue! What gives?
Sorry for the negativity, I have had a bad head cold for two weeks now and it is starting to make me a little irritable.
I am sorry to hear that pictures will no longer be allowed in the posts. I enjoyed that. As a newbie to the forums and CTT magazine I read a lot and pictures can be both fun and educational. I want to learn as much as possible by reading before asking redundant or dumb questions and sometimes a picture really is worth a 1000 words.
Even though my AF equipment is all post-war I really enjoyed the pictures of the prewar AF trains that one member posted as well as the Sunday pictures. Those were neat and gave me good ideas. There was one fella who posted old time signs, they were fun as well. I am not a computer guy but I suppose memory can get expensive and pictures take up more space.
I feel the topic groupings made more sense in the previous set up: Toy Trains, Garden Trains, Trains, Model Trains, Classic Trains, etc… It was very intuitive from the very first time I found this site and was what got me to subscribe to CTT magazine. I buy MR magazine at the grocery store but found this site through google not realizing at first the two (MR and this site) were related.
There is one thing I know quite well and that is making changes to a new computer system is expensive. Generally a programing company is only obligated to make changes when something turns out to be not as specified in the contract. When requesting a change because you do not like what you asked for is going to cost. But like anything we will all adapt.
I would ask the proprieters one thing however. When reading news articles on the web many of the larger news sites and news papers have an icon that lets the reader increase the size of the text of the article being read. That would be of great help to those of us who are nearsighted or over 50 or both! [8-|]
Do what??? Following the directions to post and in edit but will not show.
Have no fear AF1963. I think it is still possible to post pictures to the threads. I just tried it and you can do it the same way as before. I store my photos at Shutterfly.

The old way and ignore the new.
You can still post photos in forum threads. The change is that you can upload images to a reader photo gallery.
