I sold some decals to a guy in Indiana.The post office sent the envelope back saying there was no such address (two weeks later).I peeled the label off the envelope the PO had put on the envelope and remailed it.[:)]
The guy PMed me two days later telling me the decals had arrived safely.
One a auction on ebay from a guy in Ohio,paid with Pay Pal .The guy sends the package and it arrives in Grand Rapids (where I live) two days later.The GR PO sends the package to Detroit even with my addy plainly on the box.The Detroit PO actually sent someone from there to my house in GR and hand delivered my package.
One more story.Bougt three locos from a guy in New Jersey the PO there told him it will take 7 to 10 days to get to Grand Rapids.My guess is someone is going on a walk about and plans to deliver the package to the GR PO when he gets here.
I mail-ordered 4 books from a publisher, “on approval”. I had them sent to my home and received them in a week or two. I decided I liked 3 of them, but decided to return one. I cut the box down to hold just that one book and affixed the publisher supplied “return label” to it.
But, I ran out of tape before I got the box sealed well. So I took it to a mini-post office in a local department store. They normally have a wire rack in front of that counter with rolls of tape and other packaging items on it.
It was crowded when I got there and there was no room for me to squeeze past to get to the rack to get something, so I waited my turn in line. When I finally got close enough I could not find any tape on the rack… but since I was next to reach the window, I just waited for my turn. When I got to the window, I explained my predicament and the lady said she would finish sealing the package for me and placed it to the side, (the return label had pre-printed postage on it so I didn’t have to pay any money at all).
The next morning AT WORK, I saw the company “mail-lady” push her cart up to the department mail-drop and dump a large stack of letters, packages and interoffice envelopes in it, I went to see if there was anything for me.
I found MY PACKAGE there. Someone had written the address of the company I worked for over the supplied Return Label and someone else had written my mail drop number below that… thus it was delivered to me at work, less than 12 hours after I had mailed it!
LION had one package from TIGER DIRECT fail to arrive at my location. UPS admitted it was lost and the vendor sent another one, presumably collecting their loss from UPS.
I am now waiting for another package from TIGER DIRECT, this one is comming FedEx Ground and the shipping is over $79.00, (the cheapest route possible) which all things considered is not bad, only $1.00 per pound! : )
