I bought it off of Ebay for $10.00. It looks like it was made at FSM or something. i have never saw a small model like this. The instructions are very limited. If someone emails me maybe they can post the pic of the kit for me. I will email it back to them.
Thanks

You have what I think is a very old kit. I remember building this brand of kit back in the late 60’s early 70’s. A Silver Streak wood box car was my first craftsman kit. Even though they look primitive by to days standards they once state of the art.
As to the prototype you would have to research the PRR to get information but I would think that the prototype is about 1900.
Actually, the Silver Streak line is currently offered by Ye Olde Huff and Puff and they offer a 4 wheel caboose.

In Issue 45 of The Railroad Press Magazine, there are builder’s photos of # 485497 built in Altoona, PA.

The packaging is from when Walthers bought the Silver Streak line. The kit had been in production for some years before they bought the line. I build some Silver Streak boxcar kits and enjoyed it – more challenging than plastic kits.
If memory serves that same caboose body was used by the Pennsy in an 8 wheel version as well – must have been pretty stubby looking.

I built this same car (Ma & P), not difficult at all.
