I am looking for info on this engine. I know it was satin black and was paired with a 265t. Does anyone have any info if the tender had black journal boxes, and which type of coupler box it should have. I bought a late 264e with the original burnt orange rubber stamped 652 gondola, but thats all there was and im looking to piece the set together. Thanks in advance.
I don’t have an “exact” match, but one reference I have indicates that the uncatalogued set of 1940 was similar to the catalogued set of 1936. The freight set was only catalogued in 1936. This set consisted of 264e engine, 265T tender, 652 gondola, 654 oil tank car, and 657 caboose. The journals on the 1936 freight set were all nickel.

Thats what i was thinking. Its all i have to go on considering mysteries surrounding the late prewar uncatalouged sets. Ill probably place it with a black 2225w with the 40 style box coupler and yellow decaled 654, orange rs 652 and all red rs 657. I assume considering the locos place in the line it would have come in sets similar to the 204. i heard one reference the set contained the late 800 4 wheel cars and one also that the loco was seperate sale at gimbels in the pittsburgh area. Thanks again for your help.
