Anyone have the New Proto 2000 RS27?

Hey everyone
I was wondering what peoples opionion of this loco. I was looking at buying it in Conrail with no sound and putting a decoder in it.
Any thoughts?

someone must have purchased this loco, or seen it at there LHS.

A few of the Penn Central guys over on the Yahoo group (PCModeler) have them. They’re currently discussing how the units perform and some mods they plan on doing.

I have the Soo Line #415 w/sound,
nice runner, great sound, detail nice, loco is a quiet runner w/sound in “mute”. I actually think its a better runner than my BLI SD40-2.

This is a beautifully detailed unit and it sounds great but I and other modelers in my area have had a problem with the engine staying on the tracks. I know of one modeler who was sending two units back.

With an MSRP of $165 I don’t know how Walthers thinks anyone will buy any… Good looking locomotives though, to bad they’re so pricey.

Hello ctcbound,
I bought 2 of the new Proto 2000 RS27, the 415 and the sister 416. These are really nice units, run very well. Both of mine have the sound decoder and the sound is very good and clear…Great unit!
Doug. Now is there anyone out there that can tell me is that a window box gage in the parts bag and if so is there a way to make it better, cause the holes for the window box on the templat don’t line up correctly?..

I have three of them with sound and the run as good as they look and sound.

I don’t have RS27’s but I have Proto 2000 loco’s and I love them[^][tup]
