Anyone Heard When the HH600/660s with sound are due?

The proposed release date has come and gone. Just wondering if anyone here’s talked with an Atlas rep at shows and asked when deliveries are truly expected? Atlas gave me the original date May 29th in response to an email. Thanks.

Jim,

According to the Shipping Schedule on the Atlas web site, the HH600/660s were put in the shipping containers (from the manufacturer) on June 7th. On average, it appears that it takes a little over one (1) month or so for the containers to reach Atlas. Once they are processed there, they are then shipped out to the vendors or your LHS.

I’m really looking forward to my NYC HH600 arriving. It’s hard to say exactly when they’ll ship from the vendors. I’m figuring late July/early August before it arrives on my front porch.

Are you getting one of the Erie HH660s, Jim?

Tom

Tom,

Thanks for update, I deduced the same a few minutes before reading your post.

The NYC and Eire units are great lookers.

I have a CNJ unit on order. Can’t wait to get it.

Chris

Hi Tom. Thanks for the info. concerning the minimum of arrivals one month (or so) after the ship date. I was trying to plan the budget/ timing stuff with an upcoming vacation trip hoping not to miss them. If they aren’t showing up in shops until Aug. Hopefully they’ll be readily available in Sept. when I’m back.

I’d like to see one in “the flesh” if possible before a final decision is made

I’m modeling Western roads these days so no Erie in my roster. My layout is a transfer terminal/belt line so GN,UP, NP, etc. (with a cheat on SP and Santa Fe) and the Milwaukee Road showing up at my city.

It was hard letting go of my attraction to childhood’s Eastern roads and their color schemes (passenger) but I’ve been in the Seattle area for 35 years now.

I’m trying to get an SP unit, and want that orange-and-black thing on my layout in time for Halloween!

According to a conversation with my online retailer, the latest ones are officially “sold out” on the basis of advance reservations, but he expects to be able to get me one. He said that retailers who don’t keep their distributor paid promptly can (quite understandably) find themselves out in the cold, whether they’ve reserved items or not.

garyla,

If he can’t, I’m sure there will be a few available via eBay.

Tom

According to the Atlas “on the water” message today, the things are now in transit (from China, I assume).

There has to one of them with my name on it!

Which is what takes ~1 month from the date posted under the “Container Shipping Date” heading. Given the fact that it was June 7th, it should be arriving into Atlas in the next week or so.

As mentioned earlier, I’m figuring late July before it even shows up on my door step.

Tom

I’d cut off my left . . . . . . . . . . pinky? if you guys were talking N-Scale!

I won’t be able to buy until mid Sept. I don’t want to pay MSRP for them and want to see one in person to decide if I want to leave the steam era (in total) behind me. Hopefully trainworld or someone else will still have some Western Roads in stock or someone on ebay in mid Sept. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see. The pre-order world sucks but guess it’s here to stay. Not happy that Spectrum discontinued Consolidateds with sound. That’s what got me thinking about the HH600/660s.

Anyone know if these are built by Kato? Thanks.

Sorry, RT. These are in HO. Might be worth sending an e-mail into Atlas though to perhaps put a bug in their ear.

Tom

Jim,

I pre-ordered mine online for 20% off. There’s at least a couple of places where that can be found. Course, you want to also see it before you buy it. I think you shouldn’t have a problem buying on in September.

Tom

A step closer. Atlas updated their shipping schedule to announce that the HH600/660s shipped out yesterday (7/28/10) and are on their way to the dealer. Sweet! [^]

I was lucky enough to get in an order for the SP with my LHS pretty late in the game. He had ordered a couple of extras. I called three online retailers and all said sold out. I cant wait to run it.

Atlas only shipped the DC models. From what I read on the atlas forum, the DCC models should arrive on the shelves mid august.

That seems to be correct because I saw one of the “silver” (non-sound) versions of the HH600 at my LHS today. It was hard to get a good look at it through the plastic window of the package because of the way Atlas had it packed. Hoping that means the sound version will be showing up on my door step very soon. [:)][tup]
