I am looking for a dealer that has postwar lionel 022 switches. If you know of a dealer that might have some 022 switches for sale and willing to ship them, let me know. Thanks.
Sunbird train mart in Colorado Springs. They also have a website.
Traditional Trains Route 25 New Hyde Park, Long Island, NY (Western Nassau County, near Queens border) 516-328-6664 Can be reached via the Cross Island Parkway, or The Meadowbrook Parkway, or take the LIRR to New Hyde Park Station and walk North 2 blocks to Route 25. Very cool, “old school” style Train and Hobby store. Tons of inventory, old and new, and they have a lot of K-Line in-stock. Pay as you go Train repair on all brands and warranty work on Lionel. This is a great store to pick up items for displays, and layouts. Tell them Ken Allan sent you!
The prices are astronomical.
The like new items are way out of reach for me but I wait for the VG++ items they have on sale. Most of those dont make it to their website. They have 10 times as much at their store as is listed on the webpage.
As far as selection goes I don’t think you’ll find a larger amount of postwar in one place. They even have a separate building for storage.
I also have been told of some guy who has a warehouse of postwar trains not too far away from the store above. Need to call him ahead. Anyone have additional info on it?
There are just a few things I am looking for that are difficult for me to find. They are the lionel postwar 114, 118, 128, and 462. They are newsstands and the last one is a derrick platform. Very hard to find online so might have to resort to hobby shops online or something. I could wait to the train show in October. That I guess I can wait for, because my trains are going to be up in mid october anyways, then I can just add them to the layout if I find them. But, York show always has the good stuff and anyways has what I need. thanks.
lionel2,
Just, type in either Trainland, or Trainworld, they’re affiliated with each other.
I know, Trainland has some Post War goods, in varrying condition.
Call on a Tuesday, after 10 A.M. and ask for Danny, he knows his stuff.
Good Luck,
Ralph
last time I talked to trainland/trainworld they wouldn’t sell used trains over phone/internet as something to do with returns. They only sell in person so you see what you get. Now this was about 6 years ago
lionel2,
Try calling Log Cabin Train Shop in Pittsburgh. Bill has a lot of postwar trains, accessories and parts packed into his store. His phone number is 412-366-7060. He had a 114 newsstand when I was there.

rtraincollector is correct, I live near Trainland and that’s why I don’t know about their phone policy. The Trainland folks are particular regarding new, used and any return items. Sales slips, or gift slips, from them, mostly, are a must.
Any used item, regardless of condition, is noted to the customer, before the sale and usually the item is sold ‘As Is’, so the customer knows up front of the condition(s) of the item(s).
Any repair, or parts replaced, when buying used items, can be had at additional expense(s) to the customer.
Their store policies not only protect them, but also the customer.
And, for the most part their prices on all items are very reasonable.
I know this sounds like an endorsement, but I have shopped around and that’s why I make this statement.

Jim,
Thanks for the Log Cabin Train Shop of Pittsburgh, Penna. listing.
My son attended The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, which was a block from the Hines Theatre, back in the early 90’s, for motion picture SFX, I liked the building formation of the Metro. area, great to model.

Where is the Log Cabin train shop??? I was on rochester road looking for it and could not find it. All I saw was a mini mart on the corner and a few stores, but no hobby shop. It is 600 rochester rd, correct?? I got off exit 8 off of I-279 north and went on lauries run rd then right on rochester rd. And it should have been on the right. But, i did see a closed building on the right, i thought that was it. Is it still open??
lionel2,
It is up a driveway off the side of the road. It is tough for me to describe how to get there. Call Bill and ask him for the specifics. Bill’s place doesn’t look like most hobby shops. It is a unique experience.
Okay, I found it. Its at the top of the driveway. And they are not open until Monday. Do they have good stuff that is postwar?? Cheap prices or average?? I will try going there on Monday. Thanks.
lionel2,
I’d say average prices.
Ok, Thanks.
For that stuff I usually just search ebay, or use trainz.com. For post gulf war stuff I use wholesale trains.com
Try Trading Post Trains in Cleveland. Phone 216-661-7300.
Jim (the owner) has a lot of postwar and especially things like switches and accessories from that era.
He will ship, too. He does not have a website, though – you have to call.
The Trading Post has been in the Lionel business since 1950.
Everyone forgot to mention choochooauctions.com They have a link to their ebay selling list, and there are sometimes lots of post war goodies, including switches and buildings. Try that, I’ve found lots of great stuff there.
