Anyone put sound in a Proto 2000

I am looking at the Proto 2000 2-8-8-2 and wonder how hard it would be to get DCC with sound installed. I assume they run well. There also seems to be a hugh price variation, is there a reason?

Should be very very simple. The DCC plug should be in the tender. Buy a tsunami, plug it in and find a space for a speaker. Bob’s your uncle.

Art;

One reason for the huge price variation is that some come equipped with QSI® sound systems.

You may want to try Vinson’s Custom Model Train Electronics:

They don’t show one in stock but you may want to give them a call as they may be able to get one for you or could give you input on how or where to get one.

They are very knowledgeable on all kinds of sound and electronic equipment. I’ve gotten some good stuff from them in the past and just ordered two more desiels with full sound from them.

Art you might want to try one of the new LOK-Sound decoders by ESU. They’re progammable and you could customize the sound to fit. My best train hobby shop in Spokane a hunnert miles north of here has the progam to do that and will customize your sound for you. St Paul must have a shop like that.
