The set I was going to get for Corey’s birthday (6-30133 - Strasburg Rail Road Steam Passenger Set) is listed on Lionel’s shipping schedule as going out to dealers on August 10th. Now none of the dealers have this listed yet, but that’s not surprising. I’m just not sure if it even shipped. Is there a way to contact Lionel to find out the status of this set?
What they mean is “August, 2010” shipping, not "August 10th. It could ship anytime until August 31st and still be August. Once they actually ship the stuff out of the warehouse they usually (not always) say “Shipped August '10” (for instance). Then you have to wait for it to go to the distributor and be reshipped or picked up by your indiviual retailer for their customers. So, bottom line, add an extra two weeks minimum to the “Shipped” date for it to actually show up at your dealer.
also do what a lot do look at the schedule then pray it come to be as a lot of time its just an estimate that they hope they can keep.
DOH!!! I don’t know how I missed that.
Tough week in the Market, I needed a good laugh.
If you believe Lionel’s shipping schedule I’ve a bridge in Brooklyn I’d like to sell.[(-D]
From my own personal experiences over the past decade…
Go to Manufacturer’s website.
Click on the shipping schedule.
Locate the item you desire.
Note the date expected.
Add six (6) months.
If you have it in your sweaty little palms before that, consider yourself fortunate.
As always, glad to help. [8D]
Roger, N.Y.C. Mayor Bloomberg wants to and might put a toll on the Brooklyn and the rest of the bridges in N.Y.C.!! Ralph
Fifedog, you have it about right. I’d make that NINE months instead of six, though!

Head to the flea market and pick up a crystle ball. Then, just maybe you might get an accurate date.
With this place you probably have a good chance of being one of the first to get it as there acual hobby shop is a part of a building that is only about 10’ w by 20’ ln what they acually do is, there connected with a lionel supplier and if you order off there site its ship directly from them the lionel supplier and theres I believe is in either maine or mass. its up there somewhere. Any way your acually getting it from the company that distributes for lionel in the north east.
www.hobbystation.net is thewre website
I just wanted to follow up on this thread: the items in question were shipped by Lionel in August, my retailer of choice had them in stock, and they are now on their way. Sometime next week I’ll have a very happy little boy, particularly since he’s not expecting it at this point.
I ordered a R30 Subway set last year (From the 2009 catalogue) and the shipping date has been moved up several times - Now it’s December 2010. The Lionel catalogues have become “Wish Books” - Like Sear’s. You wish it - When we have enough orders to make a profitable run, we’ll manufacture them. I seem to remember… They are made in China - Halfway around the world. Add several more months for intermodal transit.
It’s possible, that the trains that we are getting now were manufactured 5 years ago and are being catalogued for this year’s sale[8D]
back on april the 5th i preorderd the 6-11208 Union Pacific Big Boy and when i checked the shipping schedule then it said july 2020 then i checked again in june it had aug 2010 then i again checked again it said oct 2010 then i checked the other day it says 6-11208 Union Pacific Big Boy Nov 10 '10 V1 .[8o|]
To all,
My own feelings, and I know I’m wrong, but with all the delays of delivery, I can’t fathom the idea that these manufacturers believe that they have the right to jack-up the prices and expect us to pay!
I guess, they know we want the item, like a baby wants candy!!!
Ralph
My last followup - the packages were on my doorstep yesterday around lunch.
