DHS, TSA, and CBP are all “out to lunch” on this subject. Union Pacific would not knowingly let illegal drugs and materials into the United States. But they cannot control what the Mexicans do within their own country. I have dealt with DHS and TSA for a long time in the airline industry and they spin their wheels concerned with “theory” instead of real world day-by-day life.

Alton Lainer,
Good to hear from you, from you, from you, etc.
Amen for this ruling. When drugs are hidden in a car in Mexico, the UP should not be penalized. Another fine example of the police state that our country is becoming. Common sense died many years ago!

Everybody wonders why the socialist government is not to be trusted. This is one more reason. Add this to harassing anybody crossing the border, unless you are a member of certain groups which meet a certain criteria. Then you get a free pass. Border security works like airport security in the futurist documentary movie, Airplane II. The scene with the Muslim terrorists bringing every possible weapon they could carry past security, getting a free pass, while security is busy scoping out the naked women and beating up old ladies for having knitting needles. Of course its much easier to blame the railroads instead of expecting border security to actually do what they are supposed to do at the border. I am convinced this is another group of people unable to pass the entrance exam when applying for a job at the Post Office.
I wonder what Alton B Lanier has to say about this.
Its all right for our socialist government to host the biggest invasion the world has known. Yet, when the private sector is involved with the border the law must be upheld. And, huge financial penalties must be imposed.
TRAINS appears to have a problem flagging multiple submissions by the same writer (or a technical problem!). Did Alton Lanier really post the same story 17 times?
