applying two color decal ??

When applying a two part decal (NYC cigar band, black lettering on a white oval).I would guess that I first apply a gloss coat, then apply the white oval, let that dry overnight, then apply another gloss coat, let that dry, followed by applying the second decal (the black lettering )then seal it all with a clear flat coat?Iplan on using Microscale decals and thier gloss and flat clear coats.Does that seem right or are there other suggestions?

That’s the method I use but I use a setting solution when applying the decals. Most experts say the second clear coat is unnecessary, but I have the problem of the first decal lifting off when applying the second decal after the first decal dried. So, I apply a clear coat between the two decals. At worse, it takes 24 hours longer to complete the car.

Thank you Mark…The lifting of the first decal, when useing the micro set,was what I was afraid of.Waiting a extra day for the gloss coat to dry is not a big deal as the model is coming along pretty good and I’d hate to ruin it at this point,I’v done a lot of decaling, but never one over the other.

Thats the method I use when I build 1/24 scale Nascar Stock cars. It protects the first decal and gives a good base for the second decal. I’m sure you can imagine how many decals go on a stock car model and I’ve never had any issues, even with cars I’ve built ten years ago.
