april 2007 issue UP 'B' unit #1550

i pay a lot of attention to the photos in mrr mag to get ideas for weathering, buildings location, scenery, track laying, etc. and noticed there is a UP ‘B’ unit #1550 in between two boxcars in the yard next to the turntable on the lower central area of page 42 of the april 2007 issue. was this a practice in real railroading or an oversight of a master builder. this is not a potshot at bill leider by no means. i’ve always seen ‘b’ units hitched up to ‘a’ units.

is there something i’m missing here? were they used as helpers? or was this also another april fool like the tattoo story?

btw. great layout and motive power detailing and building. nice layout Bill!

thanks,

michael

Yes,I noticed that too.

Would’nt be a helper-perhaps its dead in train going to EMD for attention

Some railroads use remotely controlled mid-train helpers all the time.
