April Fools MR style

I’m a first year subscriber and had heard of MR’s April Fools articles (often in Workshop Tips). Sure enough, there’s an article in the April 2013 issue from a supposed Texan about his magnetic fiddle yard. I also remember reading an older issue (2006?) about a fireman position shoveling real coal to “power” the locos.

Were there any other nice April Fools jokes throughout the years? And if so, when did they start?

Hi Eagle,

There was a thread on this just a couple of weeks ago.

Just do a search for it or scroll back that far.

Johnboy out…

Thanks. I’ll check it out.

I don’t remember what year it was, but there was an April Fool’s issue showing Kadee couplers mounted upside down so the trip pins would be easier to reach for manual uncoupling.

That thread is here: http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/215517.aspx. No sense having two of the same thing.
