Arab engines in Virginia?

Last week I was down in Charlotteville, VA for a wedding. My boys and I spent a lot of great quality time trainspotting at the station there where the CSX and NS lines cross. Last Friday night about 9:30, we saw a most bizarre thing coming south on the NS line. After a couple of lead engines looking somewhat normal, it was followed by about 20 engine units of some sort (and then a mixed freight train). The engines were very boxy (almost like B units), blue, and covered in what I was guessing was arabic language.

A man who was there and saw my kids’ reactions told them that these engines were manufactured in PA and were being driven down south to be put on a ship bound for somewhere in North Africa.

I have been trying to find any information on what I saw. Unfortunately I was not quick enough with the camera to take a picture and google searches have produced nothing.

Any help with uncovering this mystery would be most appreciated.

Dave

From General Electric in Erie, PA bound for Egyptian Railways.

Thanks for the quick response - now searching for photos. That should help narrow it down. Thanks again

Was this it?
