Trains should start a dating service… lets see man seeking woman who likes to go out at all hours of the day and night and gaze into the eyes of a GP40…[:X]…But really they need to reach out to women and minorities better then they have been.
Good goobly! How would TRAINS do that?! A person either likes trains or doesn’t. It’s not a “PC” issue. As for minorities, I’ve met plenty of them that are railfans. Depends on what part of the U.S or Canada you’re living in. There are also railfans of just about every background around the globe where trains run.
The wife of a friend of mine is a Railfan. She grew up near a mainline.
There are several of us females who are railfans: Mookie, Nora, Kathi Kube,
nance69 and me, cherokee woman. YES, WE DO EXIST!! These names are
just the names I know of on the forums: and I forgot Big Girl (so sorry about
that). [angel]
Just as there is Teen Railroaders group there should be a womens League as well
Nora is a very nice person.
All the women on the Forum like trains,or they wouldn’t be here.
I’m not sure if Nora actually works for the railroad,or a separate co.
that contracts to the r.r.;and Kathi, gosh, look how far up in Trains mag.
she is.AND I know for a fact that she is a VERY big railfan. I been a model
railroader/railfan for over 40 years, and sometimes CW wants to do
some railfanning I’ve taken for granted all these years.
Mookie loves it,Nance shares it with Bob,and I’m sorry to say that I
don’t know more about Big Girl, but she wouldn’t be on here if she didn’t
at least like doing so.
I think Antonio said it as well as can be said;’ you either are,or your not’
I may get blasted for this one,if so,so be it. But trainfinder 22,I would suggest
that this be dropped, and let’s not rock the boat,or train for that matter.
And as far as reaching out to ALL people,TRAINS is one of the best for
getting railroading across to EVERYBODY!
And from California, lets not forget the LGBTRA. The ***, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender Railfan Association.
And before anyone gets uptight, San Diego just had the LGBT parade announced just as above on radio and TV.
It’s easier to find a woman who likes YOU and create your own. That’s what I did.[swg]
The NMRA has activities for the women at their national conventions, but those usually aren’t train related. That’s where the “train widows” hang out. The ones who like trains do the regular activities.
Mamma says we are going to Deshler days.need I say more?
stay safe
Joe and matt
Joe,
You have not actually hinted how much of a railfan Stacey is.
I’m guessing,pretty good,judging from last comment.[:)]
I agree with you to a point. My first wife’s father was an engineer on the C&O,
her brother worked at the shops at Raceland. All she could do wa tolerate me,
and my love for railfanning. We don’t actually 'create’our own. There are bunches
of things to do,if they want to they will.
I agree!
NS railfan + Girl who likes horses = Girl sudenly interested in trains.
I have been married six years, and while my wife thinks I’m playing with toys (arguably so), and can’t understand why I valunteer when I don’t get payed anything and often come home covered in grease and dirt, she has a wonderfull time when we travel by train and is already looking foreward to our next trip.
Is she a railfan? SHURE!
Is it me, or does it seem that when traveling by train there is a cammaderie between passengers?
Oh, maybe more girls would like trains if they were painted pink and decorated with tassles and flowers![;)]
Lionel proved almost 50 years ago that that doesn’t work.
BLASPHEMY!!![:p][:p][:p]
Don’t come near my steamers with anything other than black, ok maybe some nice dark blood red paint—but that’s IT.[:D][:D]
Sorry about that little outburst there gang. She’s still attending the Henry Ford school of steam engine painting. She hasn’t seen photos of 4449, or any of the other great passenger steam locomotives. I’ll have to work on that with her.[swg]

Sure – my wife. We met in rules class in Fort Worth. We both hired out at KCS with the same seniority date.
