Was just wondering how many people were in the area that were into model railroads. John
Not been there since 1984. And I wasn’t a MRR yet, anyway[:D]
Sorry, I know that answer doesn’t help you, John - but I saw your topic, and was just wondering…does the place still smell like a rotten egg wrapped in sweaty women’s underwear and buried with a mackerel in an old tennis shoe for six weeks? [(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D]
That’s the one thing that I instantly think of when I remember my lovely sweltering summer in TH
I was born in Terre Haute, but only have lived there briefly a couple of times in my childhood, due to the fact that my father was in the Air Force. So I can’t help much with your question, other than to suggest you check with people who are trying to preserve Terre Haute’s rich railroading tradition. One such group is involved in the preservation of Haley Tower and the Wabash Valley Railroader’s Museum:

They are a fairly active group who I’ve seen at several local RR shows. They should have some contacts that may be helpful.

Depending on which way I go, I’m an hour and a half to two hours from TH.
John…2 of us live in the Martinsville Illinois area…Terre Haute did have a club but I’m not sure if they are still going. The Central Indiana Division of the NMRA does a lot of stuff and have had shows in Terre Haute in the past…Only one shop I know of Hobby Barn in the south part of town…Cox 47
