Now a retiree after 40 years in the law practice, the other day I found myself painting dried weeds to look like flowers and then gluing them on my layout for a flower garden. Am I the only one or all we all nuts?
A-firmative! [;)] I size up everything in nature to see how it might work on the layout.
No, I did so before retirement. [:)]

When my wife drags me along to the fabric store, I check out the dried plants.
My wife has trouble keeping toothpicks and skewers in the kitchen.[:)]
Naw; only about 25% of us are nuts. The rest of us are bolts, washers and/or machine screws (which is why so many of us are so screwed up…[;)])
To put that into perspective, I just used up 90 machine screws, 90 nuts and 180 washers converting a hunk of 1 x 6 pine board into the basis for a 90 post terminal block. [^] Of course, if I wasn’t using a very complex control system my control panel wouldn’t need a 90 post terminal block. [:-^]
As for gardens, I’m looking forward to the day when I can use a finecomb to rake the bare spot next to the 5-tiered pagoda into a proper Zen garden. [8D] (As of now, there isn’t even benchwork where that pagoda is supposed to be erected…[(-D])
You’re only mentally ill if you take this hobby too seriously - the way my son looks at golf…[:D]

We are OK. The looks I get when I’m the only male in Hobby Lobby without my wife sometimes lead me to wonder though!
Tom
Hi,
sure we are all OK. It is just the rest of the world that needs help. [:)]
Frank
There’s nothing wrong with us at all. Just a special breed of innovative people.
[#ditto]
I aggree completely. If more people had hobbies I think that there would be fewer problems, mind you hobby shops would have to get bigger or it could create more problems.[;)]

You’re NOT alone. And, yes, we’re all a little bit nuts. Hell, I even like classical music! Add it all up, and we’re just a bit out off the scale - but at least we’re in gauge-ing! (sorry)

I question my sanity regularly. During the day I am CFO. In evening I am hunch over a workbench building small trees out of furnace filters. Sometimes I worry that my family will stage an intervention with my family, friends, and pastor!
I won over some my co-workers by showing them Rod Steward’s layout in MR.
Well, I better get going, I want to see if I can make cattails for my swamp…
If some of the things around the home got the level of concentration and precision as the Workbench does… perhaps there will not be so many issues. =)
Im not aware of any issues, just too busy trying to make that rail look like the rail outside downtown.
A couple of nights ago, I cut the legs off of some seated figures to fit them into the benches of a trolley I’m working on.
Then I had to wonder, “What can I do with these legs?”
You see, we’re like this. Monday, we cooked up a turkey breast with one of those pop-up things that tells you when the turkey’s done. I pulled the turkey out of the oven, and pulled the pop-up out of the turkey. Then I stared at it for 10 minutes, trying to figure out what I could use it for on my layout. I never did solve that one.
But, I did have some cast metal figures with heavy cast bases, and when I tried to remove the bases, I damaged their legs. So, with just a bit of CA, I did leg transplants.
I’m fine and so am I, we’re not too sure about you though…[:-^][:-^]
we’re all absoutely fine hahaha wibble wibble train mad wibble[:P][:P]

I know I am not right! I have a new section that is 9.5 feet X 5 feet add on bench in foam and some track. Reason I have not gotten farer along is due the fact I have to remove cars from the main bench on to the new section so I can run my main lines. But, yet I keep buying rolling stock? Started selling of some of the engines and car on E-bay to make room. What do I do with the money? Buy more rolling stock and engines?
Lets not forget we know where they are going as well, but yet we still enjoy watching them?
Not right Cuda Ken again.
Face it. We ARE all nuts.
Where else could a forum thread with a title such as “Am I doing something wrong with my puffball forest?” be taken seriously!?! [:D] [:D] [:D]
[:)]Hey–that’s a great educational thread–lots of good solid fluffy [??] information! [:)]
Yeah, it’s starting to get real embarrasing going into Michael’s or AC Moore’s. The young girls working there always look at me kind of funny - I almost expect the SWAT team to come busting in the front windows to run me out.
