Weaver makes great engines. Which one are you interested in?
the diesel line up but what turned me off was they only sell70-100 dollers brand new on ebay.
Thanks loco681
Last week I took the tour of the WEAVER plant in Northumberland Pa.
Great place great people.
Watch as they put together each and every diesel right here in the good ole USA. It is the only manufacturer that still does this in the train hobby. They all have dual motors and each one is tested on a layout before they are shipped out.
I wouldn’ t hesitate to purchase one now that I took the tour.

When I was at a local train show, I asked a few of the Hi railers about the Weaver engines they owned, and they said they are great, a really good investment. One guy has about 20 of their diesels, all TMCC equipped. Take Laz for instance, after what he said, I would now probably go out and buy one for myself as well. Just my[2c]
I bought a Weaver USRA 4-6-2 last year (N&W BTW [:D] ). The railsounds didn’t work, but they sent me a shipping label and fixed it within a reasonable time. The loco is identical to the scale B&O etc. Loco’s K-line offers. It’s beautiful and a great runner. A little pricey when compared to Kline, but I was willing to pay the difference for the N&W road name.
I just ordered the CSX GP38-2. This will be my first Weaver Diesel (and moden era ). The made in the USA label is a big plus! [8D] I have only heard good things about these engines! I’m looking forward to operating it with the K-line CSX buisiness (CSX Xmas train?) cars I purchased in the warehouse sale.
I’m glad to hear about the tour laz57! It made my day!

Maybe someone could tell us about the level of detail on their diesels.I just sent off for their catalog after Laz took the tour last week. It’ a little hard to tell from the online catalog. Laz you may become the Weaver info man here…Tim
Got a GP38-2, good engine, looks great. I do need to get the diagram and maintainance information, but so far, I like it.

PE the detail on the diesels are good.
I have no problems with them at all, but of course I am an operator and love running em. To be honest with you after taking the tour of the factory the people that work there are really into the quality of work and product that they put out. I spent about 15 minutes talking to the guy that paints the red Canadian Nationals and he told me it takes sometimes 3 to 7 coats to get the quality that they expect from their products. Now this is from a guy on the line but takes GREAT expertise in the job he preforms. This to me is a real PLUS. Anybody to take the time and show you what he does and he actually painted flat cars for me I respect as a craftsman and a GREAT WORKER for his company.
All I can say is KUDOs for WEAVER TRAINS!
I will take the tour again in the future.
