i dont particuarly mind the occasional off topic post, as quite often i can relate to the topic, btw does anyone know how to get my sig to appear?

James, go into your profile, there are 2 spots for signatures, use the bottom one that say photos etc, put in your signature, preview it and submit. All this worked for me.
This was brought up a month or two ago. I don’t mind off-topic posts if they are labeled as such, they remain in the minority (this is a model rr forum, after all) and they stay away from politics, religion and morality. Those topics have caused some difficulty on this forum in the past, wind up getting the viewers all hot and bothered and create work for Bergie. Besides, there are forums elsewhere for those discussions.
Finally, those posting the off-topic items should remember that some of our participants are under 16, so some restraint is called for.
I’m no moralist or forum cop, but those views were formed based on my observations of what happens here. When any of those guidelines are missed, the thread usually winds up being deleted after some hard feelings are generated. When they are honored, the thread usually sticks around.
And James, I see you are from Brisbane. I spent 5 weeks there for work in late July through early September of 2000. I would have gladly stayed.

I don’t mind the odd one but when the “off topic bashers” jump in and complain it always turns into a pissing match. I never could understand why people complain about it rather then just skip over it. I guess some people just aren’t happy unless they are complaining about something I guess. Maybe they think they are special or something, lolol.
Sometimes the off topic posts are more interesting than the normal posts.
Go ahead and post !! It gives the forum more depth and life. [:P]
I don’t really mind them, but when one pops up, I read it and make the move right past it. The part that seems to get out of hand is when “some” members get all over another guys case about being a troll, and posting an off topic. We have seen this get out of hand to many times, I have voiced my opinion before in these type of post, and realised its a waste of time to try and say anything about badgering another member.
The only problem that really bothers me is when, members complain about a off topic, then label another member a troll, then turn around them selves and post an of topic. Kind of like calling the kettle black isn’t it?
As for myself, I just read them and move on, no since in getting all caught up in a flame war.
I can once in a while, and as long as its not something stupid. Sometimes its good to do something different.
as long as as they are labeled what they are. Mark about the part were some of the members are under 16 well i am 13. I do talk about that kind of stuff with my freinds, but this is for railroading not sexaully oreinted jokes. so as long as there labled ot there fine but if there not then people will start a flame war! just my 2 cents Tim
Yes, I always look for contrast. It makes life more interesting. However, I am sensitive to the needs of some of our members who have dial-up modems…still… and who get annoyed when they have to wait to download a thread that appears to be related to MRR, only to find that they have been duped. Not cool. We need all types here to make this a rich and interesting forum.
As long as the off-topic post is appropriate and not just idle chitter-chatter.

I wouldn’t mind them if there was a separate part of the forum for them. Otherwise I like the Coffee Shop for off topic posts.
Yes I am ok with them, but this has gotten to be a very popular topic. Frankly I’ve seen enough of it.
