Are you snowed in?

Well then get out there and take some photos for next years Christmas cards. i have had couple of people send me cards made with their person photos on them. Very COOL.
Heres a couple I tried.

and NO there is no trains, its too icy and bad. But the winter wonder land is great to share with others.

My wife Carrie will take these and work her magic on them on the computer. I hope. i have no idea how to do it,yet.
Happy New Year again.
And yes it is 7 degrees when i look these, cool ha???[;)]

Yesterday it started raining , then it got alot colder and started to freeze ,then we got a foot of heavy snow on top of that . Looks like the railroad will be closed for a while now . I guess now I can get started on weathering some of my rolling stock .

Snowed this morning, raining now.
If you believe the Weather Channel, we’ll be buried by Sunday.
All the local channels are calling it their own way…could even be no snow.
They rarely get it right.

Very windy, forecast rain, quite warm, back garden water logged, might run a train this weekend, the snow plough was a waste of money, ordered an Aristo (Delton) C&S C16 to cheer myself up, had a few beers last night. Nice photo’s Marty, I take it the railway is under that lot somewhere.
Cheers,
Kim

You’s need a couple Cozads in that picture for your Christmas Card!

Right now my car is covered with about 1 inch of ice.

The weather is really creating havoc here in Columbus, Ohio. We had 12 to 15 inches of snow over X-mas topped off by 1 inch of Ice then It all melted a little prior to New Years followed by 5 inches of rain. My Septic system is not handling it well at all. Not to mention with my house being on a slab with registar vents in the floor, they filled up with water. So now the house is warm and very humid, like Florida. Hopefully things will dry out a bit.

GETTING READY TO BUILD AN ARK!

Matt
around here a slab on grade has to have a 42" foundation with 2" foam as frost berrier. And 8" out of ground to the siding.
bummer about water, its a pain.

matt
no snow in my part of penna. , but a lot of rain the last two days , today it is not raining ,but it’s cold around 27 * the sun is trying to come out . put a pump in the vents
and pump the water out . ben

Took me about 2-3 hours to clear the tracks here. First with snowblower, then shovel, then by hand. First we had the freezing rain then about 12" of snow. Oh what fun it was to play in the snow and see the trains running in it. My snow plow that I scratch built didn’t work as well as I hoped but was fun trying it and looked great out front of the steamer. - Greg

Oh to be in England where nothing untoward happens weatherwise and our worst creatures are the Viper (semi poisonous snake) and the Bumble Bee (bloody big, erratic flying buzzy thing)
But then again,we have Tony Blair, our idiot Prime Minister.
Mind you,I do like a nice bit of snow.Give me some snow and I’ll send him (you pay postage,of course! )
Troy

Ben, It’s about gone now, things are drying for now.

Marty, My house was built about 1954 by an Idiot[D)]. We have similar code requirements here. I must confess part of the problem is due to me not installing new gutters, the previous owners removed the old ones as being a hassle. I was waiting to build my front and rear porches before I installed them being that I hate doing stuff twice or tearing out my own work.

Rained in…

started yet again down here. Got 5 inches from the last storm, 5 inches from the one before that on and another 5 inches before that! Sheesh! There saying It could rain for another 5 days here…

I like rain but this is getting ridiculous! didnt get hardly anything last year, were more than making up for it this year…

Hey Guys,
We had two storms back to back. A total of 45 cm or 18" of the white stuff. Got a new snowblower a year ago. Had a blast terrorizing the neighborhood with it. Naomi helped the kids build a really cool snowfort with the mound of snow blown off the back driveway. My RR is REALLY buried now. Dug out the landscape lighting just for fun at night. Makes a neat glow in the snow. Dec. 21st is past which means the sun is coming back to The Great White North. Soon it will be melting…well sorta’ soon. Fun driving though. Later eh…Brian.

Hey All
We had about 8 inches in CT past week and frezzing rain saturday, A little shoveling
and clearing and had trains running great, I got up saturday morning 7:30 looked
outside and my daugters boyfriend had a Macado pulling passenger cars around
kept them running most of day so track wouldn’t freeze up, snow hasn’t slowed us
down yet, happy railroading
Mike

Jan 11 and it has FINALLY stopped raining!!! You’ll notice my first post was 5 days ago, it was raining hard for 5 days straight but last night the final storm broke apart, the jet stream moved south, (to San Diego) and the low moved overland to the north ( to San Francisco) so LA is finally seeing sunshine today. I dont care if it doesn’t rain again until next winter. Theres a good chance we’ll have Santa Ana winds by this weekend, and we’ll get a good drying out, Lord knows we need it! Where I live I estimate between 25 to 30 inches of rain has fallen between Xmas and today, our normal in only 4 for this time of year…

Vic,

Glad to hear it, I hope your not in an area where the landslides could be a problem for you.

Take care,

Jack

This was from our snow fall this past Saturday. This is our backyard.

Jack,

Thanks, we’re not is any slide areas, but having trees falling over continues to be a real threat due to the saturated soil. We really need some time to dry out. I had just turned on the TV when the La Conchita slide footage was being aired, WOW!

Tom.

Very Nice, but man, does that look COLD to me!

Vic for your sake i hope Borracho Springs is located on high benchwork! My garage tends to get a little seepage under the door[:0].

Had to have my Septic tank pumped out yesterday because of the rains here[xx(] peeeuuuuu!

Hey Matt, yeah its in no danger, but I had to move a bunch of stuff off the floor because of the seepage. Clear and windy today, should be dryed out before too long. Hope someone else did the pumping for you…eeeyyeeewwww!
