I am not a muckraker or complainer, but the new “el Cheapo” Dream Plan Build Dvd cases are absolutely junque!!! Mine arrived squashed with the Dvd floating around inside. And to add insult to injury, the insert said if I have any questions, to please call the enclosed number - which of course there was none!
I wrote to the good folks at Kalmbach and have not as yet heard back (8 days). I suspect my complaint may be either one of a few or possibly one of many. Goodness, I even suggested that if money is the issue (isn’t it always?) that they increase the price by $0.25 and go back to the standard cases.
The Dvds have for the most part been very good, but at $24.90 delivered they are not a super bargain. So, it won’t take much for me to resign from the program.
Am I the “lone ranger” on this, or do others feel the same???
Can’t say too much on this as i have sent the payment for the last video 2 months ago and have not seen another one since. Who do I call for that one. And if you could provide a number i would appericiate it.
I agree with you mobilman. The case my last dvd came in is sure a piece of low quality junk. I would like to see them return to the rigid cases. Maybe they will listen to us.
I agree 100% I returned it mostly because of the case. It wasn’t the best in the series so far either. But the case they switched to is junk. I will not accept inferior products like that case.
THe thing to do may be to send them back to Bergie. If he gets a lot of junk on his desk, our pleas cannot be ignored. THe new case isn’t suitable for anything.
I just received an email from the good folks at Kalmbach and it looks like the experimental packaging of the Dream Plan Build DVDs will by squashed, and they will go back to the typical DVD case that we all know and love.
Kalmbach has really done a lot for this hobby, and of course we wouldn’t have this forum if it wasn’t for them. And we definitely appreciate them!!!
I’d rather pay a little more for a more rigid case. But I’d like to see the collector coin stay. I thought they were silly at first, but now that I have 13 of them they are nice to have. BTW-none of my DVD’s have been broken. But with the perils of shipping, you never know.
Glad to hear they are going back to the hard cases!! The cheap case they sent with volume 11 was worthless. The box the video came in was totally destroyed. I have been planning to call them but I haven’t had the chance just yet. I replaced the case with a spare case I had gotten from another video.
I’m actually getting weary of the DVDs. The BNSF one kept putting me to sleep (maybe the ‘sameness’ of all the trains? and I’m from the east…), and I returned it. The latest DVD I felt to be mediocre at best, and that, too, is going back. There seems to be too much aimed at the beginner. And I wasn’t impressed with the rock-making segment at all, the end result being black, shiny globs. While I’m on my platform, I think the coins are silly, just more things to clutter up the place. Finally, I think the DVDs are overpriced. Buying four or five of these a year must be WAY more profitable to Kalmbach then our annual subscriptions to MR.
Anyway, having said all that, there’s a lot on these discs that I’ve enjoyed. There’s always something of value on every one of them. And, I’ve got the lot of them, except for those mentioned above.
