Aristo-Craft 2-8-0 Consolidation

In the curren issue of GRM, Ridge road station has an add for the new Aristo 2-8-0.

I am very interested in this, but I can not find any more info on it even from Aristo’s own web page. anyone with any info?

it seems like its a 2006 release item, but not info…I thought about pre-ordering, but I am not sure if it will navigate a 5’ Dia turn.

It seems that every engine I really like is only a “future release” item. that USA trains b6 is nothing but a planned release as well. man, why is it like that?

Looks like the long awaited standard gauge connie using the Mikes drivetrain…the rep at the A/C booth at the iHobby show said they would be issueing a 2-8-0 this next year, looks nice , I wish it could do an R1 I might consider one for the garden loop.

This one will sell really well.

They’re not saying much about it except, “Summer 06.”

I’m going to guess 8ft diameter minimum. I just got a picture of it.

is this the “classic” series consolidation, or not?

nope, this is new, standard gauge, B& O prototype from what I’ve heard, using the same drivetrain as the Mike. NICE looking engine.[8)]

It is the standard gauge. I have been hoping for this engine for a while now.

the 8ft dia turn is my guess too.

one thing i thought of too was that it could be a prime target for bashing into a 0-6-0 switcher…loose the pilot truck and the last drive wheel, take the side plates off and lower them, and done…that would also allow it to navagate a <8ft turn.

But also it looks so good on its own as is. plus the price is good too.
