Aristo-craft basic train engineer

I have a question regarding the basic train engineer, when you press the fast button on the controller does the train ramp up to a set speed or can you fine tune the speed to your liking? I guess the best way to ask is it only one set speed or variable speed control.[8D]

Hi S-man,
As far as I’m aware it’s the same as the TE, set the speed as you want it and there it stays. There’s another topic round here on the TE and the guys have posted a couple of links to go into, all the info’s there.
Cheers,

This is the system I have and I dig it! First off, the “fast” button should be called the “accelerate” button, because when you press the fast button, the power ramps up gentily allowing the engine to start slowly and acclelerate slowly up to speed, same with the “slow” button, it will slow the train down at a moderate rate creating realistic motion, its a really great system for one train operation. you can accelerate and decelerate, and slow to a gentle stop, and then accelerate slowly out of a station. There is an “emergency stop” button which cuts the power instantly and two buttons to control direction. I’m indoors and have combined my TE with Atlas control blocks so I can potentially operate many different trains, albiet one at a time.
