Aristo-Craft Dash 9 Question

Hello All,

I’m thinking of getting a Aristo-Craft Dash 9 locomotive and I was wondering if they will negotiate LGB’s R2 Curves? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Sean

Nope. Won’t go.

Welcome to the forum, all 3 of them[;)]

Torby, thank you for the info.

Sean

Hey Sean,
Welcome too.
I bought a Dash9 and I have a mix of Aristo 8, 10 and 12.5 diameter turns Hated all but the 12.5. I was told the extra weights you can get from Aristo “Might” help on the 10’s but that is a big might.
I traded it in on an SD45 and have little to no issue at all. It’s not the Dash but still looks good on the track. Hope you get things worked out.

Joe

That is very odd because I have nothing but 8’ Dia. curves from Aristocraft and when I first got my Dash 9 I set up a complete circle of it inside to test it out, worked like a dream!

I have 8 foot curves, heard it will run fine.

wut was the type of curve u used?

In the shop, I had 15, 16 1/2 and 11 1/2 ft curves. The Dash 9 ran fine on all of those, though I tended to keep it off the siding with the 11.5 ft curve.

Running by itself in a continuous circle is different than going from straight to curved, and pulling cars.

On tight curves, the dash will literally throw cars off the track, due to the large overhang. I would not recommend it on 8 foot curves. You might be able to modify the coupler pocket to give more swing, and go slow on the curves.
