Close coupling is not a problem. I rectified this by putting USA couplers on my box cars and it closed the spacing by up to 40% and did not affect the cars on any of my curves. They are a lot cheaper than KDs.I put USA on all my ARISTO heavy weights and it looks great closer coupling without losing the ability to negate my tight corners which are from 6ft radius up.
