Close coupling is not a problem. I rectified this by putting USA couplers on my box cars and it closed the spacing by up to 40% and did not affect the cars on any of my curves. They are a lot cheaper than KDs.I put USA on all my ARISTO heavy weights and it looks great closer coupling without losing the ability to negate my tight corners which are from 6ft radius up.
The fact that the wheels are not prototypical in plastic is no big surprise from Aristocraft. What shocked me was the fact that they still continue to use the high-gloss paint job on the underside. The underside detailing is great, but they need to start using more of a flat or satin finish to remove the shine. I use Testors Flat Black on my aristocraft equipment on the underside, making it more realistic. Metal wheels do solve the prototypical issues with the wheel flanges. But as good as the detailing is, It’s too fragile… This is not normal for Aristocraft, so I was quite shocked. Overall, Not a bad product. Just a lot of room for improvment.
