Arizona & California Railroad: Is it still running?

That’s my understanding.

I’m actually in California Northern territory, but since they’re a sister road, they use the same paint job. And I haven’t heard anything about changing anything on either line.

As far as 3901’s paint job, RailAmerica isn’t interested in spending a bunch of money painting a unit that had been completely repainted just prior to being transferred to the Arizona & California. So the word is, it could be 10 years before it gets repainted into anything resembling the current ARZC colors (or whatever colors are in use by then [(-D] ).

James,

Thanks! IMHO, the A&C has one of the nicest paint schemes in modern era railroading. It’s a very nice contrast to CSX, NS, KCS, and BNSF’s paint schemes.

There was another railroad that had those colors too. It was the Puget Sound and Pacific Railroad Company up in Washington. It ran from Bremberton down to Centrillia. But looking on the Railamerica web site it doesn’t show on there map. Are they not owned by the same company any more or what? Does anyone know?

Its still there Chad. Perhaps the yellow dot should be 50 miles to the west.

How far west is California Northern running ? to Schellville, or Santa Rosa ?

Ah, I see, I was expecting the dot would be on the Sound at least. They really do need to move it.

I really don’t know how far west they currently go. I know they don’t go as far as Willets any more. Schellville is probably as far West as they operate these days. I’ll see if I can find out.

Dale, I asked on another forum and this is the responce I got.

“Richfield is the furthest west (compass north) the CFNR goes on the West Valley Sub. Also, the CFNR has not operated to Schellville since September 2001 (the last time interchange was conducted with the NWPY).

Thanks Chad. Everytime I think of that line I remember those pictures in the 2-1984 Trains of SP GP9E 3781 and 3424 going crewless into the Napa River below the raised drawbridge.

Antonio, if you are modeling the A&C, you could certainly have any Railamerica units show up as guests.

I’ll second that WOW Dale!!! Talk about being in the right place at the right time. I wonder how much $$$ he made selling those prints.

Dale, thanks for that link-------and what a link!

Wow! That photo sequence of the locomotive falling into the water is downright chilling![:0]
