Arizona Trains?

I think they are or were in Tuscon. Arizona trains and hobbies. While on vacation I bought trains there in 83. I got to talking to the owner and got a tour of the private collection and layouts. I think one son took over later in the 80s. Are they still in operation? I think they were the distributor for Lionel west of the Mississippi.

It is my understanding that they have closed their doors.

last time I was there about 3-4years ago they were closing the doors. had been there once before then when brother inlaw was in vets hospital. it was a nice store.

Didn’t know they closed. I bought my Lionmaster Challenger from them ( mailorder ) back in 2001.

I believe they were recently only selling to retailers. That was a few months ago when I last saw a add from them.

I was in Tucson on business at the end of this February. I looked up the area train and hobby shops and came up with only 3 or 4. One was an ACE Hardware store with a train section that ran the length of the store front to back and two aisles wide. Mostly HO and G, a small O selection. Also had scenery, tools, buildings and some accessories. No post war at all. I bought 3 different size/style tweezers.

Down the road was another hobby shop but before I set out to find it I called first. The person that answered the telephone told me they did not deal in trains at all. On to the next one across town, I called first and was told that they did deal in trains and had a nice selection. In a rear corner of the shop was a couple of sets and a few cars, some scenery and not much else. Their main focus was remote controlled liquid fueled cars.

Called the fourth one and found out the number was no longer in service. I was severely disappointed.

After I returned I purchased something on ebay from a seller located in Tucson. His list was quite extensive. Too bad I didn’t know about him before I went. I could have looked him up and perhaps came home with what I was looking for.

I don’t know about Tucson, but I liked Arizona Train Depot in Mesa (Phoenix).
