I will be traveling to Arlington, Tx next week and was wondering if anyone knows of any train shows or open houses that may be available.
Also what Hobby Shops in the area would you recommend for HO equipment.
Thanks in advance.

They are a couple miles north of Arlington in Addison, the best LHS in the area IMHO.Excellent stock, good prices.

The soonest show in the D/FW area will be the Plano, Tx show the weekend of the 15th and 16th, at the Plano Convention Center. This is one of the area’s biggest and best train shows so try to hit it if you can.
There was a 1st-time show held at the Arlington Convention Center last January but I don’t think it will be held again due to a lack of advertizing and traffic.
Make sure to visit the following two hobby shops during your stay:
Discount Model Trains - 4641 Ratliff Lane - Addision, TX 75001 - PH 972-931-8135
Ask for Wayne(Manager), James(Owner), Bruce or Donovan… they have the largfest selection of MRR supplies in Dallas.
If you want to venture a little further north, Check out Silver Spike Hobbies in Denton, TX 525 N ELM ST
at the corner of Congress. PH 940-383-3914

Chuck Bickhuas is the Proprietor and has a great little shop with good inventory and some of the best prices you’ll find outside mailorder.
If he doesn’t have it, He’ll get it - small town atmosphere -worth the drive.
There is one other shop, located in Ft Worth called Hobby World, and has a good selection of HO and N scale items, is a Walthers authorized dealer(so are the others), and advertises 20% off most items every day.
5658 Westcreek Dr at Walton. PH 817-263-5750
If you visit any of these stores, make sure you tell them that Rick Simpson sent you!
I hope this helps and while you’re in town, make sure you check out Union Pacific’s Davidson Yard in Ft Worth, TX its easy to access and you’ll have a front row seat to the enging facility where there’s always something going on and plenty of mainline action there too.
And there’s BNSF’s Saginaw Yard north of Downtown -also, BNSF
Thanks guys I will give it a shot.

Hi,
Too bad Bobbye Hall’s is gone…
Check the back of an MR for the listings of the area shops. Note that many are not in Dallas or Fort Worth but in nearby towns.
Also, be careful driving…
