ARMN Reefers

More and more of these reefers are coming south through Parsons, and more and more seem to be getting all graffitti’ed up. Something about those white cars seems to attract the thugs, and their spray paints… You have to wonder how many of them are caught by RR Cops for trespassing, and where are they doing all this art work?

Unfortunately, it is all too common for the reefers to sit in sidings unattended while waiting to be assigned to a shipper.

There has been 20-30 of these cars sitting here in Columbus. Sometimes a few leave and other times more get added. I can’t close enough to get a good look at them. They are sitting at the far west end of the yard. I can clearly see the ARMN reporting marks from the street, but to get to them by foot I would have to trespass and walk accross 6 tracks. I’m not up for that.

I finally saw an ARMN 761400 (R-70-15) series reefer. I was beginning to wonder if they were going to make the modifications to the UPFE 461400 series cars since they are almost 42 years old.

I saw ARMN 757402 on the 7th. Presumably the ARMN program included a Rule 88 rebuild, at least for this car. I am also still seeing ARMN R-70-15 cars.
