anyone know where i can find a book that may have some ideas for thes kinds of trackplans. i used to much smaller layouts on doors. its a 12x10 plus and 16 inches to 2 ft. wide with three 1/2 layers of pink foam glued on top of 1/2 inch plywood. the 16 in. ares is on one wall going thru 2 closets. not a monster layout by no means, but bigger than im used to. the reason for the “plus” is on the 10 ft. side, theres a 4 ft. double door that opens inside. that creates an approximate 2x2 square on each side for towns, yard, or whatever. a 6 ft. slide out bridge goes in front of the opened double doors. anyone have a similar setup? i need a jump start!!! thanks
If you are a subscriber and have access to the track plan database that may be a good place to start. You can search a variety of different ways. You might want to check out David Popp’s N Naugatuk (sp?) which was also built on a number of doors in a similar way you describe.
I found Ian Rice’s books, “Small, Smart & Practical Track Plans” and “Mid-Sized & Manageable Track Plans” to provide a lot of inspiration too. I think they may be out of print though.
Good luck!
Chris
There were several in a recent design contest.
Aside from back issues of MR or the database online, Google “shelf layout”. You’ll find quite a few around-the-walls layouts in various places.
will do guys! thanks for your advice on this…
Search this forum for shelf layout.
