Great article in this week’s Forbes about the resurgence of Norfolk Southern and railroading in the US in general. There are many reasons for it, but what was really neat (I thought) was that railroads are actually BUILDING right now. For example, NS is building a big yard at Rickenbacker AFB in Columbus, Ohio, and expanding the track from Norfolk to Columbus. Wouldn’t it be cool if we actually added track in this country instead of seeing more and more abandoned track. It’s been 50 or more years since railroads really expanded in this country. Certainly a boon for railfanners, too! Long live trains!!
