ASARCO EMD locomotive

Can anyone help with information or news about the Amarillo,Texas Copper Refinery EMD switcher.

The ex-Colorado & Wyoming SW-900 #214?

YES!!! Thats the one. Do you know if it is still there. I heard the plant has closed.

Plant is closed. It (#214)was there 6 months ago.

If you are going to look at that, take a look at Plainview, TX (Rock Island switcher) and the ex-SP S-6 still in Amarillo.

Mudchicken Where is the ex-SP S-6? I know about the Rock Island SW-1. Have you seen the SW-1 in Guyman, OK. I think Debruce grain has switched up their locomotives. The last time I was in Amarillo was in Dec 2004. Thank you for your information.

SP S-6 is at old Goodpasture/Continental Grain facility (Cargill now unless the name changed again …3300 E. Amarillo Blvd.) east of downtown Amarillo on Business 40. The S-6 spends a lot of the time parked over the pit in the head house. Also has a GP-9 in old PNC yellow/green colors with it. DeBruce has a herd of ex-Iowa Interstate GP-10’s at Amarillo, Etter, Floydada, Lubbock and a couple other places still in IAIS paint. Watch all the activity at the contract car shops at the 287/I-40 split.

If that S-6 is painted silver I have pictures of it on a flat car up on blocks. I have seen the IAIS engine at dimmitt, texas I do knew about the DeBruce grain facility in amarillo have been there a couple of times they are good people. When I was up at Plainview, TX in Dec I saw a SD-9 ex- Indiana Railroad.
