Ash Pit

Hi Folks: I want to put an ash pit on my layout and I saw a kit from either Walthers or Woodland Scenics but I can’t find anything else. Anyone aware of a kit from another manufacturer? Thanks in advance for the help.

Bob

Take a look at Scale Model Masterpieces.

You can also Google, ho scale ash pit. I just did.

Hi, Bob

I don’t know how big of an operation you’re planning, I mean, ash pits were built to handle several locomotives at a time or they were smaller operations like this…

Hey Bob:

Durango Press make a neat little ash pit kit that is ideal for branch line and small service facilities:

If you want something suitable for a large operation, Walthers offers this:

There is also an animated kit from Faller:

Scratch building is also an option, especially for the simpler designs.

Edit:

Ed beat me to the Durango Press kit![:(!][swg][(-D][(-D]

We installed a pair of the Walthers Farbanks Morse ash conveyors on the Boothbay Railway Village layout a couple of years ago, shown before scenery.

That Scale Model Masterpieces ash pit looks really good. Very reasonably priced too. Now I’m wondering if I should sell my Durango Press kit and go for the SMM one.

Thanks for the link.

Dave

Thanks Rich: Looks great, I just ordered one.
