Ask MRVP: Episode 1
Hello,
congratulations to these new series.
I’ve got a question regarding an Atlas #5 turnout. I’ve heard that the turnoutfrog could
be polarized, but I could find a method to connect a wire to the turnout frog.
Maybe you could help me.
Markus
LOVED IT!!
Put a sock on it; vacuum it up. THEN don’t put it straight back into the original container - you might have picked up a missed track nail or staple. Instead sift it with a fine mesh kitchen sifter.
Also, consider storing what you vacuum in a “blend/mix” jar/box because you may pickup ground foam/scenic material from previous applications or not want to vacuum after each application in the present construction.
WOW! First Ask This Old House, now its ask MRVP. A great idea and will be helpful in the future.
Question: Why no operating session on the Red Oak layout?
Great segment. I enjoy all you videos. Thanx
It is really cool to be mentioned in your videos. However, I guess I won’t be getting a thank you note from Woodland Scenics any time soon, ya think?
Great show! A lot of modelers model dairys. There are gasoline tankers, how about milk tankers? Is it because the truck cabs are seperate from the tanker and not one unit to cast?
Love the first episode of the new show. Looking forward to more.
the ask mrvp is a good for tips and comments you made.I like that very much
thank again andre from canada
For us non-electrical gurus, how about a video clinic on simple soldering? Getting a modeling idea for a cheese factory, any archived articles I could use?
What great idea for a new series David. Love it.
Ok a question…I’ve noticed you guys using Peco turnouts that have a manual snap switch that doesn’t require a manual turnout throw, is there anyway to modify an Atlas turnout to work the same way?
I have a question for Dana Kawala. I would like to know how to make a Loksound select for steam time the exhaust chuffs with a cam on the engine. I connected it per ESU instructions and did get a timed sound, like cylinder cocks open for a bit, then closed but it was terrible! It sounded more like an intermittent short. Needles to say, I’m a bit disappointed in Loksound although Matthew Herman was as helpful as he could be. We did discover an error in the select manual wiring diagram. Matt suggested I use the 4.0 diagram.
Rapid-fire, and filled with practical tips. A great addition to MRVP!
I think this will be a great series! I have a question about DCC locomotives! Will a DCC locomotive run well on DC power? For example, a BLI steam engine.
Hello! I was wondering if there is a “go to” source for scratch builders that covers dimensions and there scale equivalents of objects typical to model railroading. Something that’s got anything from lamp posts to pedestrian bridges, that sort of thing. Thanks!..Mike
Fantastic concept for a new show. Well done!
I found the new Ask MRVP very interesting, thought the best part was the “Sock” so simple, will keep an eye open for future instalments.

Thank you for “Ask MRVP”. One of the critical issues for me in each video is whether I learned something about model railroading. “Ask MRVP” delivered in spades. Now my question: I have a turntable which rotates on an audio jack and the power to the track on the turntable comes through the jack. How do I wire it to accommodate an auto-reversing device for DCC?

I’ve enjoyed mrvp alot as I’ve been on board for a while!!! My comment is where do you go to get archived video’s such as the Olympia RR video set?
I like this show!
