Assembling the New River Mining kit

Looking over the kit I see there are no step by step (in order) assembly instructions. Any advice on the best way to proceed would be appreciated.

Oh! In another thread on this kit there were a lot of great photos showing how memebers weathered the kit, both N and HO scale. If you’ve done more with yours and have a photo, I’d like to see it.

Thanks for any suggestions and pictures.

JaRRell, it has been a while since I built it, so I don’t have any particular advice on the order of construction. I don’t remember it being particularly difficult or anything like that. I used a sharpie marker to draw in the window frames, these are molded into the clear glazing material and are really hard to make look good with a paint brush. I converted my mine into a shaft mine and made a mine head structure. Pics are in the other thread or on my picturetrail site.

I kitbashed mine following Jim Kelly’s article on the Turtle Creek Central in MR. Only difference is that I did mine in N scale. Since the below photo I’ve added chain link fencing and details around the mine.

Simon, thanks for the tip on using the marker on the windows. I’ll have to remember that!

I like it Dave. Thanks for the photo. By the way, who makes the retaining wall that is behind your mine? I need something like that for a spot on my layout.

JaRRell

Chooch. They offer it in HO and N. It’s the cast concrete retaining wall/bridge abudment (I guess it can be both).

Ok, thanks Dave.

here is a view of my half finished Fayette City Coal Company… still lots of painting and weathering to be done…
