I’ve got several blue box Athearn AC4400s in CP colors. The thing is, I’m really dissatisfied with the look of the factory installed windows. The way they’re made (and installed) makes it look like the glass is installed from the inside, with a 6 inch outside sill. In all of my prototype photos, the glass is flush with the outside of the frame. I’ve removed one window set, and cut the windsheilds free with a razor saw. With a little careful filing, I’ve got them to where they fit very nicely, flush with the outside. The question is, what’s the best way to secure them? I’ve got some Testors Clear Parts cement, but they say to remove the paint, which will expose the black plastic underneath, and make it look, IMHO anyways, kinda crappy. Any ideas how I can secure them without removing the red paint?
If you want some great glazing, check out the below link…

Click on HO and then click on the “windows” link.
Before you install the glazing, it might be an idea to blacken the window surrounds, to simulate the weatherstripping. I’ve used felt pens (Sharpie, etc.) to do this on many of my diesels and it really adds to the model.
I would recommend the old stand-by Elmer’s white glue. Aircraft (and other) modellers use it all the time to attach their clear parts.
