Athearn AC4400CW BNSF H3

Hello modelrailroaders I was wondering if the BNSF heritage three scheme from Athearn is DCC plug and play ready. I have seen a Dash 9 form athearn and it had DCC plug and play but I don’t know about the AC4400CW. Can you please tell me if you have it and has DCC plug and play thank you

sincerely

Ryan LaPlaca

I do not have the BNSF H3, but if it is the Athearn RTR, I believe it should be DCC ready. I hope this helps.

Ryan, I have three of these RTR engines and all the boxes have “DCC Quick Plug Equipped” printed on the top. These should work just fine for you.

I have an Athearn AC4400CW in UP and it is an Athearn Genesis …If it says RTR or Ready to Roll then there will be a decoder plug that you can plug a decoder straight into. If it’s an Athearn Genesis than you’ll have to pull out the old board and replace it with a TCS A6X decoder. It’s the only one which will operate the 1.5 volt lamps…chuck

Yes the RTR AC4400s are DCC-ready. The box even reads “DCC quickplug equipped”. BTW, since the AC4400 and DASH9 are nearly identical, they use the same drive and frame.
