Guy, do any of you know if Athearn ever issued its PA/PB models in an early Amtrak scheme? Did Amtrak inherit any of these engines at the time it was formed?

According to my book: Standard Guide to Athearn Model Trains, page129, there were none produced by Athearn in the Amtrak paint scheme. I don’t know about the 1/1 versions, perhaps the “Experts” will bestow the information to us gratefull masses?
Unless I’m mistaken, which is often, just ask my wife, the last US railroad to use PA’s was the D&H.
Amtrak did not inherit any & if they did, thet never used them.

Except for the four Delaware & Hudson (ex: Santa Fe) PA-1’s all were gone by the time Amtrak came on the scene. Espee pulled the last of their PA’s in July 1967 and all were scrapped by 1969. EL had a few in freight service and IIRC they too were in the deadline by 1970.
As for a Athearn PA in Amtrak. I never saw one listed in the catalog or in person so it is doubtful there ever was one. At times Athearn has produced some foobies though.
The DH PA’s were rebuilt by then Morrison-Knudson in the mid-70s and saw service on a US to Montreal train. I don’t know whose train it was Amtrak or otherwise. They lasted till the then DH President (Bruce Serzling?) was no more and the PAs and Baldwin Shark’s were off the roster. They stayed in DH colors
Thanks to all who replied, I appreciate it! You’re all scholars and gentlemen, I don’t care what anybody else says. ![]()

An addendum to the Amtrak PA’s. All four D&H PA’s were sold to Mexico. All ended up in sorry condition.
Two were returned to the United States. One is in the process of being restored. NKP will be the road. The other is supposed to go to the Smithsonian in ATSF Warbonnet. The other two have been rebuilt and are still in Mexico one in a faux “Daylight” paint job and the other in FNM Blue.
