I came accross my old parts bin and found 2 athern bb switcher chassis. One is a dummy and the other I cleaned the motor and all the pickups and it runs like a top. The only issue is I dont have the bodys for them anymore. Ive searched ebay and athearn but does anyone know of a company that makes replacements? Thanks!
I just checked e-Bay… In the search box put “Athearn shells”. I seen 2 Baldwin S12 shells on the first page…
There is a seller on eBay that apparently has a huge stockpile of undecorated Athearn parts. He usually only lists items once every four-five weeks.
He sells incomplete kitsand diesel shells without windows or handrails.
His listings always contain the term “project time”, so that is what I search for. He makes you plenty aware that everything he sells is a project and not complete.

I think I found him a few times. I believe he has an SW calf up there right now. Im tempted to buy it and then find a cab for it. I came across a guy selling like 12 sw and s12 shells but wanted them all gone for $200 and wouldnt sell me just one

Be patient. SW7 S12 shells show up on ebay a lot. Might have to wait until the winter sales season to see more frequency.
I liked the S12. Back in my project build days, I shaved the stack off of the S12 and added 4 modern smock stacks to represent a repowered unit. Discarded the metal handrails and filled in the holes, then drilled new holes to accomodate delron plastic gp handrails shortened and narrowed to fit the S12. Added a more modern horn. Sold that shell several years ago.
I’d suggest not limiting your Ebay or online search to just ‘shells’. Not sure if you’re looking for a specific railroad, but you might find a decorated dummy SW-7 engine with the body shell you need for a reasonable price.
Stix, I found it easier to use the following "Athearn Shells, Atlas Shells etc. I also use brand name and locomotive or car type like (say) Walthers centerbeam or Proto GP38-2.
Not looking for any railroad in specific. Preferably undecorated, I would like to make a first attempt at a custom paint job
