The screw on the pilot truck of my 4-6-6-4 Athearn Challenger came loose and although I was able to find the screw and washer, I have not been able to locate the spring. The part is listed in the Challenger manual as Part Number 199 Pilot truck washer and spring but is not listed on their web site as one of the parts that is “in stock”. I phoned them at 1:30 pm California time and all I got was a cursory voice mail by “Laurie” saying she was gone for the day and to call back tomorrow. I plan to do this but I would welcome any other suggestions for a replacement or substitute in the event that Athearn is unable to provide the necessary part.
Thanks
I would be surprised if “Athearn is unable to provide the necessary part.”.
By the time you get assistance you just may find the spring in an un-suspecting place. If you were operating your loco when it came apart you might go over
your tracks with a magnet.
You also might try the standard procedure, help@athearn.com as a back up.
Thanks
Athearn is the only place. I have emailed them and got results, but not on the Challenger as of yet. They might have you send it in for repair as that is what they requested for my Genesis F units.
I am sure they will take care of you.
