Will an Athearn blue box F7A or F7B shell fit on an Athearn Genesis F7A or F7B frame?
Probably with some modifications but, why would you want to? The Genesis shells are much superior to the Blue Box bodies.

Incidentally, when I Googled it, there are mixed opinions on whether the BB and Genesis chassis and shells are interchangeable or not.

Well I for one can only say; I don’t know…
Why, the Genesis are built on Highliner Shells not the BB ones.
I do know & contest that the Highliner shells will retrofit on to BB frames, but I remember putting them in the Mill to back set Drill & Tap the Coupler Screws for better appearance.
I will go with the Answer , that anything may/will work with modifications.
One may have to add or remove material, &/or beaching stops so the shell will have positive seat on the frame.

True, but I have a feeling that the OP is hoping to hear that the shell and frame are interchangeable, and from what I read, I don’t believe that is the case.
