Hello everyone,
This may have been addressed before, so forgive me if I’m redundant. I’ve somehow screwed up the programming of my Challenger and can’t get it to reset to factoy defaults. It won’t run at all, but I do seem to get confirmation that the programming changes are being accepted.

I have had the same problem. If you call (310) 763-7140 which is Athearn technical number and explain the problem they will give you the steps to correct ar they will give you the technical number for MRC who makes the decoder.

I haven’t had that problem but I haven’t been able to program much of anything besides the address on my 3985. As far as running goes, this is probably the nicest steam engine I own, it’s very smooth and quiet with no hint of binding in either forward or reverse. The detail is wonderful. It’s just too bad that they equpped it with such a piece of junk decoder and sound system. The sound is terrible and the documentation is lacking for DCC. My UP excursion program has been sidelined until 3985 can be re-equipped with something else, probably a Tsunami or Loksound.
