Athearn Genesis F w/Sound

I just tried out a new Athearn Genesis F unit with Sound and it seems to be a decent engine, ran fine after fiddling with a couple of the CV settings. One thing I noticed was how dim the headlights were, they seem to be functioning ok but not as bright as some of my BLI engines. Anyone out there had a chance to try out one of these? Thanks Bill

I have a new Atlas engine and noticed the same. One of my function keys toggles it bright / dim … read somewhere recently about lighting rule X (can’t remember the number) … when two trains are approaching and one is on the siding ???

Billoberst, how is the sound? Is it really worth the very steep price tag?

I’m considering getting a genesis F7A w/o sound.

The sound is Ok. I don’t think it’s a good as the QSI sound used in the Broadway Limited Import E units I have but not bad. The things you can do with the DCC part is limited compared to QSI. Bill
