I recently found an Athearn Genesis Rio Grande powered F7B at a yard sale for 20 bucks. Took it home-opened her up and realized it was DCC equipped (I think) and a Sountraxx speaker system. I have not gotten into DCC yet and want to run it on my DC analog layout. I set the F7B on the layout - turned it up to about 8 volts DC and I get the idling sound from the speakers but no movement or other sounds even at full throttle. Other DCC decoder equipped locos have run fine in analog on my layout. Any suggestions? May just send it ebay but it’s a peice of art to me and I like it… Thanks!
If it has a Soundtraxx decoder, these are not DC compatible and you may well have fried the decoder. Many other brands of DCC decoders are DC compatible and will auto sence and switch to DC mode and work, but not Soundtraxx.
