How does the engine drawbar attach to the tender? Does it snap around the pin in the tender? I did not see anything in the instructions.
I have the new Genesis Big Boy that just came out at the same time.
The Big Boy’s drawbear, shaped sort of like a wrench on the business end, just snaps right onto the post in the tender.

Thanks. That is what I thought and tried to do but it did not want to snap in easily and I did not want to break it without checking things out further. One of those better safe than sorry deals.
Some of the things we do with our nice steamers is not for the faint of heart. I don’t really care for that type of towbar, and am amazed at the resiliency of the clasp type P2K Heritage 0-6-0’s towbar arrangement…it works reliably!
For the kind with the pincers, as this seems to be, I use non-serrated needle-nosed plier midway along the shank and use a sideways thrust to seat the pincers around the recessed post inside the tender. I do try the hand method first to get a sense of the resistance involved, and occasionally a firm press makes the catch…whew!

Hey Crandell I fully understand. I did not want to grasp things to hard for fear of breaking something with all the fine detailing. I will just have to work out a method such as yours. Thanks, Allen
