Athearn Genesis Pacific replacement driver wheelsets.

Miracles never cease. In the mail today, I received one of the aforementioned wheelsets, complete with a brand new machined brass gear. I am very impressed. Kudos to Athearn from me.

Of course, I was personnaly never that turned off by the original gear problems. It is not like they went to some fly by night outfit to have them made (Samhongsa) after all. And they got one order of replacement wheelsets for the Mikes in before the buyout. And NWSL bailed us all out. And they also did say they were getting another order of wheelsets for the Mikes about the time I first needed a Pacific wheelset. Maybe…

So, if you need a Pacific wheelset, I would get on the horn.

According to the Athearn newsletter, their first Genesis steam loco was the Challenger.

Not the 2-8-2 nor the 4-6-2.

I have news for them. Only Hollywood or TV can change history. I am sure its in the Constitution. I have six (6)boxes, that Mikados and a Pacific came in, from 5 years or more back, and they clearly say Athearn Genesis. Maybe they are starting counting over since the Horizon buyout, I don’t know. But neither the Challenger or the Big Boy is the first steam loco to be called an Athearn Genesis.
