My first Athearn MT4 just arrived in the mail and looks great. I’m keen to get a second, but would like to get one with the skyline casing. This casing is shown in the parts drawing supplied by Athearn. However it is not clear which version has the casing, if any. Maybe it is being held over for a second run? Maybe it will be sold as a separate detailing part? Anyone with definite information here?

Question. How does the engine couple to the tender. Does the drawbar snap around the pin in the tender?
Now if only we could Athearn to include the “Sacramento Headlight” as a seperate add on part for those among us who model the twenties and thrities!

Followed David’s advice & called Athearn - got a prompt reply.
The skyline versions are coming next - in fact they are featured in the latest Athearn newsletter - three numberings 4349; 4358 & 4360 - taking orders in June and due October 2010. A serious SP fan would need at least two to run paired to emulate the San Joaquin Daylight
As I said … I’m really pleased with the quality of the Athearn MT4 model.
