Can anyone shed some light on the problem of the warped trucks in some of the Athearn Genesis SD70s?
What models and what year or production runs were involved. I recently received a sale Email from an online discounter who shall remain nameless, with some really low prices on Athearn Genesis SD70s. It occured to me they might be some of the earlier runs that had the problems. Thanks.
Mine from about 5 years ago had them. The replacement trucks were fine.

I don’t remember the exact year, but I have 4 of the very first SD70s and all 4 had warped trucks. At the time, the Athearn management was in a state of denial and they refused to send free replacements. This was shortly after Irv Athearn’s death when former employees were mismanaging the company. I had to purchase them, and wouldn’t touch an Athearn product again until Horizon Hobby bought the company.
