Athearn HO RTR SD50/SD60 question

Hi all, athearn recently released a batch of sd50’s. They just released a batch of sd60’s that should be on the shelves any day. My question is these are both RTR and in particular the CSX YN3 scheme, is there different spotting features between the two or did they just use the same mold and put different road numbers on them?

Thanks.

I’m not a diesel detail guru but, there are differences in the SD50/60 so,no they’re not the same shell.

I am far from an expert, but I believe that they are the exact same underneath the shell, and use the same main shell. Then there are different parts that are added to the “main shell”, like the cab, short hood, dynamic brakes, battery boxes, etc. if you look at the exploded diagram, you will notice it shows all of these different detail parts. I have a new RTR SD40-2 which has the same type of assembly.

From the images I can find they’re different tooling and so they should be, the SD50 and SD60 look similar but are different in terms of doors and panels.
